Where your ID and selfie are stored, who can see them, and how long we keep them.

Your ID and selfie are the most sensitive data we hold, and they are treated differently from everything else on the platform.
How they are stored
- Encrypted at rest, on infrastructure we control
- In a private store that is never served publicly — unlike listing photos, these files have no public web address
- Your National Identification Number is stored encrypted and only ever displayed in a masked form
Who can see them
Only the reviewer handling your case. Every single time a document is opened, we record who opened it and when. You can also view your own submission.
Consent and your rights
We ask for explicit consent before processing your documents, and we handle them in line with Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time — see Data requests.
How long we keep them
Verification documents are deleted after the retention period stated in Privacy and cookies, or sooner if you ask us to remove them and we no longer need them.
