Privacy and cookies

What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the cookies we set.

Last updated 11 August 2026

We handle personal data in line with Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019. This summary explains the essentials.

What we collect

  • Account details — name, email, phone, and anything you add to your profile
  • Listings and enquiries — what you post and the messages you send
  • Identity documents — only if you verify as a seller: your National ID images, a selfie and your NIN
  • Support requests — what you send us, including attachments
  • Technical data — IP address and device information, used for security and abuse prevention

Why

To run your account, show your listings, connect you with other users, verify sellers, prevent fraud, and answer your questions. We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

  • Account data: while your account is open, then deleted on closure
  • Identity documents: encrypted, and deleted after the verification retention period or on request
  • Support tickets and attachments: retained for 24 months from closure, then deleted
  • Trust and safety reports: retained longer where needed to protect users

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary to sign you in and keep the site secure, plus a cookie that remembers a help-article vote so you are not asked twice. We do not load third-party embeds, including maps, before you consent.

Your rights
